Love shows up at places you least expect it to.
That’s what happens to three friends Taufik, Jeffri and Sam when they go on a holiday to scenic and mystic Pulau Langkawi.
Each with his own preconception of Love, they meet three young women, Lina, Amy and Sofia who steal their sleep with their beauty and their sorrows.
After a sweet and bitter pursuit of Love, and a near tragedy at sea, sacrifice of the Self unites the young hearts.
Pulau Asmara is the first feature film by noted television drama-documentary director Mr. Uttam Kumar Thangiah who has been in the film industry for 25 years. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1982 – 1985 by majoring in Film Direction. He came to prominence as a cinematographer and director of Tamil dramas for RTM and TV3. Soon, he has served prominently as a director and also as the script consultant for film workshops and had directed a range of Tamil dramas and documentaries. He has also made many TV commercials.
In 2007, he worked on a short feature called Malligai Vaasam for a Sri Lankan producer from Germany. Though not released in Malaysia, the film has been screened in Europe and Canada. His documentary series — Malaysia: The New Frontier of Medical Tourism — is being shown on RTM on Sundays.
Mr. Uttam Kumar Thangiah was rightly proud as being the only Asian among 23 participants, who had gathered in Greece for a six-month script-writing course in 2008.
Among the casts in the film are up and rising mixing with the veteran stars such as Sheikh Bolkhiah, Abby Azis, Faizal Ramliy AF4, Leez Rosli AF4, Sasha Arsheela, Nadia Kesumawati, Datuk Aziz Singah, Azie Shah, Latif Ibrahim and many more.
